The advantages of staircases that are pre-built in our shop are many — from the craftsmen's methods to the time savings — with the bottom line being affordable high-quality results.
Avoid costly remediation of onsite building complications. In the field, often a carpenter is building on rough framing. This translates into making a number of compromises that affect the aestheic appeal, comfort of travel and pose a danger of compromising safety. Compromises might include guess work on rail fitting, riser heights and tread depths. All of these variables increase the possibility of the staircase being rejected by the building inspector. We promise that our pre-built staircases will be built and installed to code — speeding the inspection process.
No matter how skilled the carpenter working on the building site, it is inevitable that after the majority of the moisture leaves all the building products, the structure shrinks. This causes opening of joints that will have to be re-caulked and repainted — costing the builder time and money. Our process of building in a controlled environment and then installing after the structure is weather-tight eliminates these problems.
Our skilled craftsmen use methods from stair artisans of the 19th century along with modern knowledge to create staircases that will stand the test of time. The first part of the process is to study the building plans, evaluate functional needs, discuss aesthetic desires, and then provide appropriate options. Once the design is determined, the entire staircase will be constructed in our workshop. This provides our craftsmen with the proper equipment in a controlled environment, enabling them to craft any staircase with quality, consistency, and efficiency.
